Cleaning for Health

Cleaning for Health

Based on what we know about the way COVID-19 spreads, the most effective strategies limit airborne exposure, such as wearing face coverings and maintaining social distancing. Current research indicates that surfaces are not the main way that the virus spreads, but may contribute if one touches a surface and then touches their face or eyes. With this in mind, custodians are implementing new protocols to clean for health, highlighted below:

  • Continuously updating cleaning protocols to align with the latest science
  • Training or retraining all staff
  • Increasing staff and frequency of cleaning in high traffic areas
  • Updating and, soon publishing, cleaning schedules
  • Introducing new electrostatic disinfection foggers to campus
  • Ensuring that disinfection products are properly deployed for occupants to assist
  • Implementing new quality management tools to log and document completed cleaning tasks
