The Multipurpose Recreation Center (MRC) will provide indoor space for a multitude of activities including varsity athletics practices, intramural and club activities as well as select campus functions.

The pre-engineered metal building structure was designed by CannonDesign and is being built by Suffolk ConstructionSlated to open at the end of 2025, the facility will include a three-lane, 200-meter track, four tennis courts, batting cages and a 40-foot high climbing wall.

The building will be highly sustainable, currently tracking to be LEED Gold certified. The MRC has a modeled energy use intensity (EUI) of 33 kBtu/sqft/year and will be a net-zero operational carbon building for 10 years through the purchase of off-site, Green-e certified Renewable Energy Certificates.* It has also been designed to accommodate a future, full rooftop solar photovoltaic array and adds another electric vehicle charging station to campus. The mechanical systems are not only highly energy efficient, but compatible to connect with a future low-carbon campus energy system.
